Urban Lab 2016

Tallinn, Estonia: 2016 Aug 15th - 21st

The first year of the Urbiquity Urban Lab was organised around the theme 'Memory and Movement'. A 5-day programme of walks and talks, practice and theory culminated in projects that were shown both in Tallinn and in London as part of the UrbanPhotoFest 2016 Urbiquity exhibition.

The vision for the pilot Urbiquity Urban Lab was to build strong links and form the basis for cooperation between Estonian academic and grass roots urbanists and international experts. The entire experience has propelled us to recreate the experience in other cities and formats.  Using methods from anthropology, ethnography, sociology and arts practice the residency aims to create new knowledge of urban space. The urban lab has grown to serve as a platform for integrating researchers of various origin and for encouraging interdisciplinary urban study.
